WHAT TIME IS IT?..Coverage of Glenn on BreeFM

Glenn, live on BreeFM @11pm EST, Wednesday.

Glenn kicked off the show with a mashup:

"A-Ha vs Oasis - Take On Me, Wonderwall (Glenn Rubenstein Mash-Up)"

With multi tracks you hear some subtle differences.

We will have a new mix up again this week. Again it will be partially live.

GLENN then performed a LIVE MIX UP:

Glenn - September 17 2008 Mix-Up - Live and In Progress on BreeFM

Sometimes the suggestions from MixMeister fusion are "dead ends". It is just hard to mix your way out of some situations and every couple of weeks Glenn hits one of them.

Glenn continues to watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles. He likes that this season the episodes have their own self contained story. Glenn watched the first season in blocks and that was a very different viewing experience in terms of enjoying the payoffs. Shirley Manson and Brian Austin Green are in it. You can check it out on Hulu.

He watched Fringe and says the first two episodes are well worth watching on Hulu. It reminds Glenn of a UK show in terms of tone. It has a good vibe. He likes the characters. He wants to know what happens next.

Glenn does not think "Pink " takes good advantage of the web medium because it is shot like regular TV.

We will soon have the 2 year anniversary of OpAphid and the one year anniversary of Glenn's radio show.

Here is the archive of of stories from LG15 TODAY concerning Glenn's radio show on BreeFM.

  1. wait, what? First he says Fringe is a great show to watch on Hulu, but then says Pink sucks because it's an online series shot like regular TV?

    Epic fail.

  3. Well if the toaster strudel/pop tart thing is true. I say fuck Glenn too. Who the hell wants to associate with someone like that.

  4. To clarify, since it might not be clear from the recap of this week's BreeFM show:

I was talking about how a web series can make use of its medium and I talked about Lonelygirl15 vs. a show like Pink: The Series.

I think people are more open to discovering a new online video series if it's presented in a clever way that makes good use of the format.

LG15 used video blogs and a first-person POV to tell its story through YouTube, and in the process it caught the world's attention.

From Ask A Ninja to Dr. Horrible to Maddison Atkins to The Guild (to name a few), I've been drawn most to online video series that do something a little different or try to innovate...

...but when it's an online show that uses the more traditional TV and movie approach to storytelling, something gets lost for me when it's only released in small doses.

I also talked about how it's a different level of competition if you're producing an online series that aims to look and feel like a TV show, because then you're competing with any and every other television show a person might want to watch online instead.

Shows like Fringe are better known entities that have a huge awareness in the online space. After all, your average network television show airs to millions of people each week on television and is budgeted at a million dollars or more per episode.

It's hard to compete with that type of built-in awareness (not to mention budget) if you're trying to deliver a similar viewing experience to a television show, but with online-only short-form episodes to build your audience from the ground up.

In my opinion, the advantage that online video makers have is to offer people the type of viewing experience that they can't get anywhere else.

That was the context that I was discussing this in on my BreeFM show this week.

Oh, and for the record: I like Pop Tarts way better than Toaster Strudel!

  5. I assumed that anonymous 2 meant don't mind Glenn, not don't mind anonymous 1.
