ARGs - the programming genre for the web

"Greg Goodfried, co-creator of LonelyGirl15, revealed that LonelyGirl was envisioned from the get go as an elaborate Alternate Reality Game (ARG)."

"Goodfried said that the LonelyGirl team turned down development offers from numerous Hollywood studios."

"LonelyGirl shoots one week before it posts"

"Other companies who have had success developing ARG programming are 42 Entertainment and Campfire Media."

  1. Didn't they say in an interview once that they didn't even know what an ARG was when they started LG15.

  4. If I recall correctly, they actually said (at the ARGfest anyway) was that they didn't know that what they were doing was *called* an ARG.

  6. There were no "real" ARG elements until CiW reared her head.

That leads one to a big Hhhhmmmmm if they planned this to be an ARG from the beginning (which I think is just plain c-speak BS).

  7. Perhaps Greg is stretching the early idea of it being seen as "real" by an audience and/or characters interacting with the audience into "ARG."

  8. Rome is burning...

-The color scheme of the lg15 side of the site is a mess.
    -Vid responses don't work.
    - There's been no character interactivity for weeks.
    - There is no chat.

    and Nero plays his fiddle.

  9. Hey guys,

They quoted me out of context. I said that in the beginning, lonelygirl15 had lots of mysterious elements - home schooled, crowley picture, mysterious religion. I was basically saying that it wasn't simply a show about a girl in her room talking about boyfriend problems. I then went on to say that it has ARG elements. I think they conflated my two statements into one. I definitely did not know what an ARG was before we started and we adopted the puzzle/game playing elements after we learned about them from the fans.
