    Jerry, I know this was sincere, and I think you are great, but ... I think there was some unintended ambiguity in the advice...

    One way to (misread) it ...

    1. Don't take family for granted.

    and

    2. Hold on to resentments, because when they're gone, they are gone forever.

    You'll miss those resentments when they're gone, so hold on to them as long as you can!
