I'm scrambling to get this group up and running. You'll see below I'm experimenting with some Twitter aggregators, and hope to settle on the most efficient system in the next few hours. @johntynan of KJZZ public radio is working with me to get some twitter accounts up and running, so twitter users can receive gustav news, alerts, blog posts, etc via twitter as well. I've also added a Flickr stream of content tagged gustav to the left.
WEB SITE: http://gustav08.ning.com/
Soon this site will aggregate content from a variety of sources, including Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, Utterz, Technorati, etc. If you're creating any content related to Gustav, please tag it gustav so we'll be able to aggregate it here. Thanks!

Wow. Didn’t mean to cause a stir. But seriously, this means a lot — the fact that all this ‘is he or isn’t he’ talk is going on.
Hate to break it to you guys, but I’m just a dude who cribbed the lg15 editing style because… frankly, I’m not that original. And trust me, the editing took FOREVER.
I’m sort of overwhelmed by all the nice things though, I think I might… yup, I feel the tears… I’m definitely crying… it’s a good cry.

Over the last few weeks, we've been hard at work refreshing the LG15 website, waiting for the latest installment in the LG15 Universe, LG15: The Resistance. The story has already thrilled and confused us on LG15.com and around the web. Who or what is the 436? Why is it disrupting a variety of video serving websites through the known Universe? How is this connected to our browser caches? Where do flash incompatibilities between PCs and Apple computers fit into all this, and can java be trusted? Why is our logo a shade of olive green no one has seen since 1970's tupperware? If Sarah is bored, imagine how we feel. Most importantly, why is Jonas so angry all the time? Come on, he totally dissed Jennie in the series finale, and Jennie is incredibly hot, and now we know Sarah was the real plantcake. Will she rejoin the fight? And what the heck was in that tell-tale heart box Spencer and Taylor had in the life raft? Will Jessica Rose ever appear in something not involving a Sorority?
PF5: The Meepers explores the continuing adventure of LG15 viewers as they rapidly refresh the comments page over and over, in the vain hope that today will be a two video day, juggle for world peace, try to avoid falling into any plotholes, update the LGPedia, visit chat, the forums, InsideLG15 and LG15 Today, all while fighting against trolls and the mysteries of Crowley's weird taste in old furniture that may pose an even greater threat...

According to the comic descriptoin on Newsarama:
"(W) Joshua Hale Fialkov (A) Jeremy Haun (Cov) Jeremy Haun -- The perfect killer always has an airtight alibi. But can anyone be in two places at once? John Stephens can. He’s often a suspect whenever a high-profile target is taken out, but he always gets off scot-free because he’s usually somewhere else, having the time of his life. How can he be responsible? The authorities may be fooled, but now someone knows his secret, and John is going to have to face the consequences. From the people’s choice Joshua Hale Fialkov (Cyblade, Marvel Comics Presents) and artist Jeremy Haun (Civil War: Iron Man/Captain America, Chuck) comes this espionage thriller with a twist!"

(thanks to Rekidk for pointing out this article in a comment here on LG15 Today blog)
On August 28, in an article titled Lonelygirl15 sequel proves that resistance isn't futile after all, ARGNet reports:
"Yesterday afternoon, we received word that EQAL, the company behind LG15 and Kate Modern, is preparing a sequel to begin in September. For ARG fans, we have exclusive news that there is, indeed, an alternate reality game - now playing and full of surprises - preceding the launch of the debut video.
According to an inside source close to the project, the game includes assets that go beyond the online videos which have become a signature of the brand. In the mix are crowleycollection.com, lifesbloodlabs.com and verduspharma.com/press/, the latter of which outlines a legal battle between a pharmaceutical company and an experimental R&D sub-division gone rogue."
"we can reveal that entering the code 1103 at the Crowley site will yield information important to the game"
The ARGNet article also provides a link to this thread on the LG15.com forums, where information about these events "leading up to The Resistance" is being nicely documented.

The Hymn Of None has hacked the lonelygirl15 youtube account.
NOTE: There is currently a debate in the community about whether or not this can technically be considered a hack because the lonelygirl15 account has been defined as "out of game" and hence cannot be considered part of the ARG/interactive component.

Dr. Alderman: My name is Doctor Leonard J. Alderman, (Dr. Leonard J Alderman fades in at the bottom of the screen.) I'm director of medical research at Lifes Blood Labs. (Goes in closer to Dr. Alderman, and the text disappears.) We at lifesblood are on the forefront of radical advances of modern day science and medicine. We use cutting edge technology, as we strive towards one, fundamental goal. To make this world a better, healthier, place for all. (Cuts to Dr. Alderman, up from his chair, walking around the rim of the desk.) As of last week, we have made our first significant breakthrough in the field of regenerative medicine. (Slowly zooms in on Dr. Alderman.) One of our Dutch geneticists has been experimenting with recombinant nucleic acids, to astonishing results! He discovered a unique, ribozyme, capable of refreshing telomeres, and creating billions of hyper strong, white blood cells. (Cuts to another shot of Dr. Alderman.) When injected into the blood stream of test subjects, we've discovered that these cells have the power to cure a million of aliments, anything from the chronic cold to cancer. (Cuts to another shot again, closer to his face.) Lifesblood is currently working to modify, and synthesize the synside into a concentrated, liquid compound. One which we've tentatively named Hetlevan. Based on the Dutch word for life. (Cuts back to a bigger picture.) But this is just one of many trials ongoing at our facility. The promise of what we can do has been made a reality, thanks to the bright young minds working for us. And, our amazing bard of trustees. We all share one core belief. That mankind himself should be the master of his own future. (Cuts closer again.) Lifesbloodlabs, the rest of your life begins now.
(Cuts to a reversed opening sequence.)
Notes:
This video was posted on YouTube on a newly created channel, LifesBloodLabs.
The Dutch word for life is actually "leven". "het leven" means: the life. "hetlevan" however means nothing at all.

Note: This article is entirely the opinion of QtheC, and no one else, and you are more than welcome to disagree with me! ;)
Note addded by mm: The so called fan fiction revamp was a very open process and the LGPedia admins repeatedly ask for community input. There were also numberous invites to participate posted on LG15 Today. Despite all these efforts there was a very limited participation by the community. After the "consensus" process went into effect the broader community began to see some of the consequences and this has stimulated more discussion of the topic. This has never been a closed process and while it is true that some of the discussions were complex and excessive I truly believe that everyone just wants what is best for LGPedia. For a more extensive discussion of this see my comment below. It is my understanding that most of the current changes are actually on hold as we work out a process where we can preserve the historical record on LGPedia while still meeting some of the administrate needs. I think that shows that the admins are totally responsive to the needs of the community/

Sarah's New Life: A Play in One Act
[Curtain opens on a small room inside a bland chain hotel. It is dark and quiet… Until SARAH (not a day over 17) enters. She illuminates the scene with her stunning presence.]
Sarah: Where did everyone go?
[Silence].
Sarah: I said, where did everyone go?!
Beige Wall: Probably to a great big party you're not invited to.
Sarah: Woah, you're a hotel room wall! You're not supposed to talk!
Beige Wall: I'm not. But you've gotten so bored this last week that I've gradually become your best friend.
Sarah: My lord, that's sad.
Beige Wall: I resent that.
Sarah: I resent you.
Beige Wall: Fine. This friendship is over.
Sarah: But it wasn't even real to begin with!
Beige Wall: Whatevs.
[Silence. ]
[Sarah sits on the bed and crosses her arms. She is angry and alone. Until she picks up the remote and turns on the television. New episodes of Project Runway make her totally happy… for a little while].

QtheC,
All your questions and thoughts are good ones. Right now the development team is working hard to launch the site and our focus is on finalizing all the features required for us to tell the story "LG15: The Resistance" and for users to have profiles and the basic features of a social network. We definitely want to do things along the lines of YouTube where there are user controlled and moderated show pages and forums for community shows (with tagging, search, AJAX, feeds, etc.), but at this stage it's beyond the scope of our initial launch. In the meantime, because we want to increase the profile of community shows at the time of launch, we are going to be doing some hard-coding as a stop-gap. Yup, this is a pain in the ass and inefficient. But, we do it because we love you guys and the shows you make and we want to make it easier for more people to watch them and participate. I don't know exactly what that will look like and I don't want to make promises I can't keep, but the bottom line is that we will have a more prominently feature list and/or section of community shows and those show links will take you "somewhere" to watch and talk about those community shows. Again, I don't know the details and it is definitely a stop-gap solution. So, all we want is a list of the currently active community shows so that we don't miss anyone when we hard-code this stuff. If you want to provide more information (like trainer asked for), then that will help us if we decide to use some organizational system for the community shows (grouping them according to what universe they are in or something). Again, nice but not necessary.
Thanks.
Miles

Glenn, live on BreeFM @11pm EST, Wednesday.
Glenn has been messing around with 8tracks.com ( see previously article on LG15 Today to check it out).
http://8tracks.com/OpAphid/opaphid-v-tachyon--unofficial-soundtrack
http://8tracks.com/glenn_rubenstein/glenn-rubenstein-remixes-and-mashups
Glenn then performed a live mix:
Glenn - August 27 2008 - GlennFM Mix-Up (Live and In Progress)
A lot of times there is a limited choice in terms of the options the MixMeister fusion software suggests. It determines the key and the tempo etc of the songs. It is accurate 7 out of 10 times. Glenn lays out 4 or 5 songs in advance. He then has to adjust song by song. Glenn likes when it is "random". If it is all one genre it is just too easy.
Each week there are 5-10 songs that it just locks up so well that it makes an interesting musical experience. Glenn saves the mixes and he might put the best parts together.
Glenn then played an abreviated version of a previous mix he created.

I would've killed Natalie for moving us out here to this dump if it wasn't for my wonderful boyriend Ben promising to stay by my side every step of the way. Look how well that's turning out! We've had our differences before, but nothing has pulled us more apart than this new town. Dharma Rhodeis tearing my life apart. To prove it, here is one of my more recent works used to define the term. I just wish everything could just go back to the way they were before. - Grace

Over the last few months we’ve been hard at work putting together the latest installment in the LG15 Universe, LG15: The Resistance. The story has already begun to unfold on LG15.com and around the web. Who or what is the Hymn Of None? Why are they defacing a variety of websites throughout the LG15 Universe? How is this connected to the Crowley Collection? Where does Lifes Blood Labs fit into all this, and are they to be trusted? Why is Sarah so bored? Most importantly, where is Jonas? Will he rejoin the fight? LG15: The Resistance explores the continuing adventure of Jonas and Sarah as they work with an expanded cast of characters to fight the Order and other organizations that may pose an even greater threat…
We’re incredibly excited about the show and we’ve put together an amazing team of people to produce it. The Executive Producer of LG15: The Resistance, Amanda Goodfried, has spent the past year producing lonelygirl15 and brings a wealth of experience and creativity to the project. Head Writer Josh Fialkov is a best-selling comic book writer having produced popular titles “Elks Run,” and “Punks.” Joining the team are a handful of writers, editors, directors, and producers some of whom are new and others who have worked with us on previous shows.
We’ve learned a lot from producing lonelygirl15 and KateModern and we’ve tweaked the format slightly to make the show more accessible to a broader audience, and to simultaneously give us the ability to tell a deeper and even more compelling narrative. Based on all of your feedback, we’ve shortened the season to three months (yes, that means questions posed at the start of the season will be answered by the end of the season). Additionally, we’ve added a weekly episode that will be be posted every Saturday and supplement the daily content. The first episode of the show will be posted on September 20th on LG15.com and on branded channels on our partner sites YouTube, MySpaceTV, imeem, Veoh, and Hulu. Finally, thanks to the herculean efforts of our technology team, our incredible new social network platform gives us the ability to feature all sorts of content on the homepage (not just videos). Monday through Friday we will be posting videos, photos, and blog posts from the characters. Just like lonelygirl15 and KateModern, there will be a new piece of content each weekday (usually a video), and if you watch/read/view each piece of content over the course of the week it will feel like watching an episode of TV with a beginning middle and end. This daily content and plot-relevant additional material is edited together by one of the characters into the weekly episode and posted to the website every Saturday. Consequently, for those of you with less time on your hands, all you need to do is watch 12 episodes over the course of 12 weeks to follow the story. Of course, you can always dive into the daily content at any time and comment on videos and interact with the characters and the narrative.
In true LG15 fashion, the show will be highly interactive. In fact, there will be even more interactivity than on either of our previous shows thanks to the enhanced technology on the website. Every piece of content will feature discussion threads, characters and users will have profile pages and will have the ability to upload photos, import YouTube videos, and post blogs. There will be weekly puzzles, chat sessions, and over the course of the season there will be a few spectacular live events. The season will conclude with our signature 12 in 12 finale that will bring together videos, chats, character interaction, and live events. Needless to say, we are very excited.
The new site will be launching into private beta in early September (we’ll send a lucky group of you invites), and the site will go live in mid-September prior to the launch of the show.

Many people today believe that cynicism requires courage. Actually, cynicism is the height of cowardice. It is innocence and open-heartedness that requires the true courage -- however often we are hurt as a result of it.

Beckett, who likens the shows’ sensibility to the WB hit Buffy The Vampire Slayer, said The Resistance was deliberately created to appeal to the unindoctrinated.

RE CBS: EQAL is currently working with the network at a script level to create online narratives that tie in with a new TV series to be announced.
EQAL Announces New Online Drama Series “LG15: The Resistance”
Sneak Preview Sept. 16 at the New York Television Festival; Series to Premiere Online Sept. 20
Distribution Partnerships with MySpaceTV, imeem, Veoh, YouTube and Hulu Signed for Season One
Redesigned LG15.com Website with New Community Features to Launch with the Show
LOS ANGELES – Aug. 27, 2008 - EQAL, the social entertainment company founded by the creators of lonelygirl15, today announced details of the next online serial drama in the LG15 universe, titled “LG15: The Resistance.” The new US-based series will share the mythology behind the previous series “lonelygirl15” and UK-based “KateModern.” Beginning with its online premiere on Saturday, Sept. 20, season one of “LG15: The Resistance” will run for 12 weeks. Daily posts by the characters on LG15.com will consist of short videos and other multi-media content such as text blogs and photos, concluding with a weekly episode posted every Saturday that will include all of the week’s dramatic developments. An exclusive sneak preview of the first episode of the new series will be shown at the New York Television Festival Digital Day at 7 p.m. ET on Sept. 16.
In order to allow the audience to better engage with the new show and interact with each other, EQAL also announced plans to completely redesign the LG15.com website and provide its devoted community with new and expanded social features. Audience participation and interactivity throughout the series will be essential to advancing the plot, with the community called upon to make suggestions and solve puzzles for the on-screen characters. The enhanced site will allow fans to do that through the creation their own profile pages and participation in live chats with characters from the show. Other community features include discussion forums, comment boards, character blogs, groups, and more. Future enhancements will add photo and video sharing to the LG15.com social network.
In addition to the new LG15.com, video episodes from the first season of “LG15: The Resistance” will be available on popular social networks and online video sharing sites including MySpaceTV, imeem, Veoh, YouTube™ and Hulu. As the season progresses, all video content, including daily video and weekly show episodes, will premiere jointly on LG15.com and LG15 branded video profile pages on the various partner properties. Customized promotions with each partner will vary, but will involve feature homepage placement over the course of the season to drive traffic and entice new fans.
“With ‘LG15: The Resistance,’ we are taking social entertainment to the next level. By incorporating the lessons learned about writing for the Internet and audience interaction from our experience with ‘lonelygirl15’ and ‘KateModern,’ ‘LG15: The Resistance’ is poised to be the most engaging experience in online drama to date,” said Miles Beckett, CEO, EQAL. “We’re all but exploding the wall between creators and viewers, letting fans contribute directly to the unfolding narrative in a way never before attempted in scripted entertainment.”
The story told in “LG15: The Resistance” will continue to operate in the LG15 universe with its shared mythology and select overlapping characters from lonelygirl15, including leading characters “Jonas,” played by Jackson Davis, and “Sarah” played by Alexandra Dreyfus. As with the previous series, “LG15: The Resistance” will revolve around The Order, an evil secret society that has discovered the existence of very rare girls that carry a special blood trait. The Resistance is now the only hope in battling The Order, but they must overcome great obstacles to do so. The new series will combine action, romance and intrigue in the spirit of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “National Treasure.” While this back-story will be familiar to long-time fans, “LG15: The Resistance” has been developed to ensure the plot will be extremely accessible to new fans as well. “LG15: The Resistance” is executive produced by Miles Beckett, Greg Goodfried and Amanda Goodfried, the producers of lonelygirl15 and KateModern. Joshua Fialkov, creator of the graphic novels “Elks Run” and “Punks,” joins as head writer.
“EQAL has pioneered some of the most successful serial dramas in the Internet age, and we’re confident they’ve got another hit in store with, ‘LG15: The Resistance.’ We’re thrilled to bring their ground-breaking new show to over 27 million users on imeem and equally excited to have LG15 fans connecting around imeem music and video playlists,” said Jeff Reine, director of business development at imeem.
As with the previous series, brand sponsors will be tightly integrated into “LG15: The Resistance” and seamlessly woven throughout the narrative. EQAL is currently seeking brands that are interested in new forms of product placement and cutting edge interactivity on the Internet.

lonelygirl15’s Second Incarnation: The Resistance
But this time, they’re also realizing that they can reach a different, more casual audience, and will be releasing a single weekly episode of The Resistance every Saturday that ties up all the need-to-know developments of the show into a 6-8 minute video. It includes two of the main characters from lonelygirl15 — Jonas, played by Jackson Davis, and Sarah, played by Alexandra Dreyfus — and furthers some of the storylines with which they were associated.
There will also be a finite lifetime for The Resistance, with 12 episodes over the course of three months followed by a full-day (12 episodes in 12 hours) season finale.

New LG15.com goes live.
WE ARE THE RESISTANCE
The fountain of youth is real. It's in the blood of innocent girls scattered across the world. They're hunted, murdered, sucked dry of their precious lifesblood. We are The Resistance. We fight to protect and save these girls.
At one time, our only obstacle was an evil cabal known as the Order, that disguised itself in the form of the innocuous cult the Hymn of One. But now, the threats come from everywhere, evil corporations, deranged scientists, and even the ones we love. No one can be trusted. They must be saved.
WE ARE THE RESISTANCE
We've begun to fight our enemies, exposing their lies, attacking them where they live. Our army grows every day, our arms outstretched, and our weapons drawn.
WE ARE THE RESISTANCE
In September we will launch a full frontal attack. No longer shall we hide in the shadows, or run scared like children. We will document and record our war, and you can be a part of it.
It is time to enlist. Sign up and join the battle. When it is time, you will be notified.
