Inaugural Webseries Fan Event- Hot As Hell!

When I heard Steve Silverman, Julie Smith and Crystal Chappell were talking about putting together the first ever webseries fan event, to say I was excited was an understatement!  As many of you know, I love their shows and what a great idea to give fans, as well as themselves the chance to mingle at a never-before-done weekend in Palm Springs!

There are many Indie festivals that have begun to celebrate the talents of those striving to give fans amazing, never before seen or done content on the web.  Over the past 5 years, festivals and award shows continue to pop up as the new wave of online digital content creeps up to the top of the rollercoaster.  One of  the reasons I love the Indie community is the unity, willingness to include fans and create a bond as they build their audiences.  Having this in mind, Steve Silverman, creator of Pretty The Series and The Inn Series; Julie Smith, creator of Fumbling Thru The Pieces and online pioneer, Emmy Award winner Crystal Chappell decided it's time they meet their fans in a new forum!  Forget the usual 3 day screenings and award show, they've come up with a very unique way for fans to make real connections with their favorite actors.

The Hot As Hell Fan Event will be held August 16-18, at the Riviera Resort Hotel in Palm Springs, California.  They have planned 6 very unique events that give fans the chance to let down their hair and mingle with the cast and crews of each show, beginning with a mixer on Friday August 16th and a 'Top Secret' surprise.  Saturday August 17th, after a hard night partying roll out of bed and have breakfast with the creators
panel, there are a couple of events on Saturday that will culminate to the Saturday Night Main Event- watch your favorite webseries on the big screen w/live commentary from those behind the scenes.  Sneak peeks of upcoming seasons could be thrown in there, so it's not to be missed!  Then end the weekend with Sunday brunch with the casts of:

DeVanity
Fumbling Thru The Pieces
Venice
Pretty the Series
The Inn Series

Many of your favorites are scheduled to appear including Michelle Lee (Fumbling/Knots Landing), Joan Van Ark (Pretty/Knots Landing), Denise Alexander (Pretty/The  Inn/General Hospital) and many more!

We spoke to Steve on RHeart Radio Wednesday about what he has in store and he also chatted with Dan Kroll on Soap Central Live this afternoon with even more details!

Listen: (45 min mark) RHeart Radio   Soap Central Hot As Hell

Tickets just went on sale this afternoon $159 for VIP pass for all events over the weekend.  Get your tix now because the price goes up June 1 to $189 and $239 July 1st.  For an itinerary, ticket and hotel information:

If the events planned are any indication, I have a feeling it's going to be very hot hot hot time in Palm Springs! Don't miss it!

Clutch is back with Season 2.5

The second half of Clutch Season 2 has begun with Epsode 2x06: Living in Fear.

The dark re-entry to the story about women who fight back against the mob picks up shortly after Episode 2x05: Peripeteia left off, with the dominatrix Raven traumatized from the role reversal imposed by Marcel. Neutrality is no longer an option, but fighting him alone would be fruitless.

This episode of Clutch was created by guest writer/director Alex Gheorghe, whose work was previously seen in Episode 2x03: Inamorata. Employing guest artists is something that separates Clutch from many other web series, making the series dynamic and creatively bubbling at the seams.

New for Season 2.5 is a wide release across multiple platforms. While the previous strategy was to concentrate the views, easy discoverability has become the focus and the series is now carried on KoldCast TV, blip, JTS.tv, Dailymotion, iThentic and YouTube

So… why exactly is it called Orange Juice in Bishop’s Garden?

We’ve been getting lots of questions lately about where the title of our web series comes from. “Orange Juice in Bishop’s Garden” is a mouthful, and an unusual one at that. So I’ve decided to sit down and spill it all out for you.

First, it’s all explained in the very first two episodes of the show. They’re now “in the vault,” and are available for download on our Shop page. Also, we offer them FREE to awesome fans who create video responses to our episodes telling us why they love OJBG, or any questions they have for creator Otessa Ghadar or any cast members.

But to answer the question! Why Orange Juice? Why Bishop’s Garden?

Staring with OJ. It has something to do with how everyone always says say it’s good for you, but, honestly, it just doesn’t go well anything! Like after you brush your teeth, eating pancakes– it’s no bueno. It gives you that sick, gross aftertaste in your mouth. But you drink anyway. In the first episode you find Sarah and her BFF Kris sneaking a smoking break with Marlboro Reds, listening to a song: “I like you like I like my orange juice…” Sarah turns to Kris and says, “Sometimes I think the only reason I drink orange juice…” and Kris finishes it for her, “…is because of this song.” It’s about the impressionability and nonsensical aspect of youth, getting under the influence– for things both good and bad for you.

Next, Bishop’s Garden. It’s a park by the beautiful National Cathedral in the heart of Washington, D.C. This is where all the OJBG teens meet at midnight, drink, and cause havoc while idle summer misbehaving. Under the auspices of the towering cathedral, they let loose, learn about love, insecurity, and how to have fun. Of all the places in D.C., where else can a kid blow off safely blow off some steam? They’ll get drunk (and not off OJ), do stupid stuff, but these nights are the ones they’ll remember. And so… Orange Juice in Bishop’s Garden! Teen life summed up in a few enigmatic words. :)

And actually, Otessa hates drinking orange juice. She talks about the creation of her web series and diving into new media here. Any other questions? Tweet us or post it on our Facebook page!

Help get LGPedia back online!!!!!

Anyone who has been around the Web series community for any length of time will understand the historical importance of LGPedia, the "pedia" that covered every aspect of lonelygirl15 and all community based Web series that originated from this vast community. Other than installing the software, LGPedia was almost entirely fan run and fan created for most of its formative years. Unfortunately this invaluable resource is currently offline without any explanation from Eqal, the company that controls the server for LGPedia. Our goal is to get this historically invaluable "pedia" back online.

This is where we need your support!

Please take a moment and help get LGPedia back online by re-tweeting the following:

http://twitter.com/modelmotion/status/331758223629615104

We need to clearly demonstrate that the entire Web series community views LGPedia as historically important and if Eqal can no longer support it they should open source it to the community that will.

Thanks,

 mm

I would love for you guys to have a watch of my first episode and let me know your thoughts. Feel free to share with family and friends.

P.S - If you are a webseries creator and you still dont know how to monetize on your work, i have written a book 'How to create a successful webseries that sells' which is available on my show's website.

As creators its important to know the information that can help us sustain our series.

“Meet the Mayfarers” is a comedy about an estranged, dysfunctional family who is forced to live together for one year in order to get their grandfather’s massive inheritance.

On The Heated Floor - Episode 2

Okay! Episode 2 anyone? ON THE HEATED FLOOR: two quirky friends (one's a passionate/nerdy teacher, the other is a sex addicted chef) trying to relive their best 'roomie' moments...only to find life is different the second time around.

Weird humour. Weird flashbacks. Weird animation. In this case weird = a whole lot of fun. I'm a fan of weird.

Booya! Thanks for watching.

Lets Get Dirty!

A few words from Ascher Crowe (Ryan Singer),
Stella (Jacki Flynn), & Uncle Phil (Greg Massey) on
Zombie Socks Series 1: Episode 3 - Disgusting Careers!

Ryan Singer

Going into the backwoods of Georgia to shoot with the Zombie Socks crew was thrilling, chilling, and a lot of fun! I would do it again in heartbeat and look forward to seeing what other deranged funny they come up with in the future. Getting dirty, bloody, and funny with the crew was a great experience. It was definitely better than I expected, much bigger operation and very professional environment. Doing web series shoots can be so mysterious, you just never know what you're getting into.

Jacki Flynn

From the day I joined the Zombie Socks team it felt like family. Elizabeth told me I HAD to play Stella in Episode 3 and was perfect for the part. I felt welcomed and needed. Everything was a breath of fresh air with how professionally the team works – constant communication, clear plans and expectations, and of course – excellent production quality. I watched Episode 1 before my audition and just knew being a part of this team would mean being part of a high-quality production that was fun to make. Being on set with this crew was a BLAST… they work hard and fast, demanding quality and not wasting any time. We laughed in between takes, and got down to business when the camera was rolling. The team’s PAs treated me like royalty, helping me in any way possible when it was my turn to shoot. Most importantly, when I saw the final product, I was incredibly pleased. Elizabeth is a perfectionist in the best way possible. I hope to continue working with this crew for many episodes to come! One of the perks of being cast in Episode 3 was getting to work with L.A. comedian, Ryan Singer. He was HILARIOUS and so fun to film with. I love that Elizabeth continues to work on getting bigger names involved in the show.I also enjoyed getting to film a piece for the Undead Together music video, and all in the same day as filming for Episode 3! When you work with Zombie Socks, you really get the most out of your time and efforts - getting involved in multiple pieces for maximum exposure and the most amount of fun!

Greg Massey
Having the opportunity to work on the Zombie Socks series was, WORK.... HA!  I had great fun and got to deviate from my usual position in the Motion Picture Industry as a Scenic Artist.  I designed and dressed the sets including teaching myself to build bloody Zombie body parts.  I used "John", a corpse last seen on the Walking Dead and many movies including The Island and Piranha 3D for the chop shop scene. He had been seen on camera so many times they "retired" him to me.  I had the opportunity to speak on this show and work with some talented and funny people including Ryan Singer. I wore many hats including being a Producer, Actor, Set Designer, and Special Effects Lead.  I am proud of the commitment given by everyone in the show and would love to work with any of them again. Everyone pulled their weight and some worked several positions to make this happen. Thank you to everyone involved and to Elizabeth Stacy for asking me to be a part of this series.  I look forward to doing this again soon. Please support us so we can bring you more laughs.

IllumiRoom: Peripheral Projected Illusions for Interactive Experiences

IllumiRoom is a proof-of-concept system that augments the area surrounding a television with projected visualizations to enhance traditional gaming experiences. We investigate how projected visualizations in the periphery can negate, include, or augment the existing physical environment and complement the content displayed on the television screen. Peripheral projected illusions can change the appearance of the room, induce apparent motion, extend the field of view, and enable entirely new physical gaming experiences. Our system is entirely self-calibrating and is designed to work in any room. We present a detailed exploration of the design space of peripheral projected illusions and we demonstrate ways to trigger and drive such illusions from gaming content. We also contribute specific feedback from two groups of target users (10 gamers and 15 game designers); providing insights for enhancing game experiences through peripheral projected illusions.
