Boom for TV at your fingertips

Australian actor Tara Rushton, the star of social networking website Bebo's online drama KateModern, will make a cameo appearance in the new series of Forget the Rules, which is the subject of negotiations for international distribution.

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,22643333-26077,00.html

Tara Rushton is the actress playing the role of Charlie in the webseries KateModern. Born in Sydney, Australia, Tara wasn't originally an actress, but became a model at age 15, when she went to a Cleo exhibition where a modelling competition was held; she decided to enter and was signed by Vivien's Model Management. Among other things, she was one of the five finalists in the Global Guess campaign, and was named "Miss Photogenic" in the Miss World Australia competition in 2003.
After her successes as a model, Tara moved to London to pursue an acting career, and a mere five weeks later, with no prior acting experience, she was cast as Charlie. She has said in the past that Tara and Charlie are very similar to each other, and that The Creators are incorporating many of her likes and dislikes in Charlie, making the character more realistic and easier to play. An example of this is the choice of music Charlie listens to: "The writers did ask me as a person what music I liked, so Charlie likes INXS, Eskimo Joe, Something For Kate, things like that."
Tara likes the direct connection to the viewers in KateModern, but she's not always sure if people talk to Tara, the actress, or Charlie, the character. She also finds the concept of fan fiction, especially fanvids, "really interesting".
Academically, Tara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 2005.

Lonely no more

"WHEN the creators of internet video Lonelygirl15 were outed last year, they claimed they were "witnessing the birth of a new art form". Now you can test their claims, with co-creator Miles Beckett and head writer Luke Hyams in conversation at ACMI on Thursday, November 1. If the behind-camera stars aren't your bag, local model Tara Rushton has returned to our shores after starring in the web-based follow-up to Lonely … called KateModern. Rushton is here to star in Melbourne's MIPCOM-winning online serial Forget The Rules, the second series of which launches next month"

Luke Hyams is the head writer for the webseries KateModern.
At age 14, Luke was forceably ejected from school. From ages 15-20, he went on to study film-making at YCTV in Ladbroke Grove London. During his training there, he created numerous shows, including a chart-show format called "Pass the Mic," which earned YCTV its first terrestrial commission from BBC2 in 2000. "In 2001, Luke turned his attention from presenting to writing, his first project ‘The Hidden City’, was an epic drama about young people living on the streets of London. Hallmark Entertainment enjoyed the pilot episode so much they commissioned a further twenty-one episodes which Luke went on to direct. Upon completion of ‘The Hidden City’ Luke began developing a feature script called Dubplate Pressure while simultaneously overseeing a number of commercial projects. Dubplate Pressure eventually became ‘Dubplate Drama’; Channel 4’s critically acclaimed interactive series which allowed viewers to influence the fate of the main characters via multiple platforms."
Prior to joining the KateModern team, Luke had seen Bree on YouTube, and appreciated it for the individual videos, not realizing there was a larger story. He had also read a bit of the press about the Creators on the internet. He was introduced to Miles Beckett through his agent, Josh Varney from Independent (ICM) and got the job shortly thereafter.
Luke is inspired by breaking down boundaries, telling stories people will enjoy, and Jeff Goldsmith's creative screenwriting podcasts. If he wasn't writing, he'd like to create enormous live events or do transcendental meditation. He has two black cats. His grandmother, Margaret Hyams, played the cameo role of Aunt Joan in the KateModern episode Spiders.

Hey guys! Your resident ... medium...i guess you can call me...here.
I've checked out everything, and the vast majority of the stuff on the blog is fraud work. however there is a bit of ... "historical" ... information correct, and a few tidbits here and there that are somewhat real (but more urban legend then anything, for example the bremuda triangle post. I'm actually surprised it didn't ahve the history on it. or Astral Projection. PS It totally can be done, just need a lot of patience). The cam though is something that I have yet to catch I've been trying to find the feed on the listed web site, but you need to register which I really don't want to do. It's an interesting blog, none the less. Really well put together, and enjoyable to read. If anyone has any questions about what you read too, give me a shout.

PS: this probably doesn't help at all everything I told you, but I thought it may help. It seems like it may just be faked to live within the Breeniverse, but at the same time it might not be. Thousands upon millions of these type of web sites exist, and just a pin prick of them seem realistic. This one really doesn't as, like I said before, is more Urban legend related and falsified evidence.

From the "Is This The End?" transcript on LGPedia, Daniel was interested in teleportation stories on the whatweird.com website.

On that website, there are two articles in the "teleportation" category, both dated Oct 20th, just 5 days before "Is This The End?" appeared on Oct 25th, 2007.
See: http://www.whatweird.com/archives/category/teleportation

The first article is called "Astral Projection?" and talks about the author's "Mum" (sounds british) being interested in Shirley Maclaine's ideas on the subject, and her book "Out on a Limb" published in the 1980's. There are 4 comments on the article, the most intriguing is this one: http://www.whatweird.com/archives/29#comment-20

"RadiantNight Says:
October 24th, 2007 at 5:10 pm I totally believe in astral projection. It happened to me. At least, I think so… it was the weirdest thing…"

The second article tells a story about "Gil Perez - Twin or Teleportation?" teleporting from Manila to Mexico City on October 24, 1593 (note the date).

There is a notable conclusion in bold added to the article by the author. It begins: "Did you read that? How amazing would it be to suddenly be transported from like London to Los Angeles? (especially on dreary rainy London day!!!)"

In the comments on this second article, there is more about astral projection, and manipulating energy to teleport (with a link to http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/Wingmakers/Teleportation.html )

There is also a comment that might possibly refer to Kate:
http://www.whatweird.com/archives/13#comment-27

"frankie Says:
October 26th, 2007 at 8:36 am
i’ve talked to someone online who claimed to have the ability to astral project at will. And while i still dont believe them… they did warn me that its quite dangerous. While you leave your body to wander to new places… your body is an empty corpse… ready for any soul to wander in and take over."

The teleportation angle could be a cover - the real story might be that Kate either has a twin, or has multiple personalities in some way... Kate, Genevieve, etc.

The London to Los Angeles teleportation reference seems very likely to be the work of LG15 creators. I think we may be seeing a lead up to a KM to LG15 cross, especially after Kate said she was going to America with Clore to study art.

The 9th Interactive TV Show Europe 2007

Created in the summer of 2006, the videos have received over 40 million views and are consistently the most subscribed to, most viewed and most discussed on YouTube.
