How Do You Feel About the NEW LG15 TOS?

Now that the new LG15 TOS has been released we want to know how UGC creators and other fans feel about them. Do they meet your needs? Do you understand what they mean for you? Do they meet all your concerns? What would you like to see different? Leave a comment below and let us know how you feed about them.

  1. I dont think the TOS alone can address the key concerns of UGC Creators.

  2. I think the bigger question in my head is what do they consider fan created content and what do they consider theirs?
    Example:
Is Cassie theirs, or is Cassie the creators of CiW? My reasoning behind this question is they never developed the character, on mentioned her a total of 5 times.
Is OpAphid theirs now? Or can Glenn use his characters in the new ARG?
My resolution for this question is the possibility of the creators creating a list of over all characters (that would include locations and organizations because they are characters too) that would be a nice little refrence guide for everyone. It wouldn't have to be detailed.

  3. "Basically, this means that if someone creates a new character that is "fighting the order," that person can put the video anywhere they want as long as they also put it on our site, don't make money from the video, put a link in the description when it is uploaded to other sites, and let other people build from that story/character."

This appears to say that you CANNOT use any LG15 element WITHOUT adding your video as a response video on LG15. In other words, just making a video containing a clip from LG15 and putting it on YouTube would be illegal (even with a link) unless you also put it on LG15.com.

I hope I am wrong about this, so please correct me if I am. The wording is slighly vague so hopefully this can be clarified.

  4. Thats a good point KTS.

It also leads to the question of who owns P. Monkey, Owen and Thor since they are derivative of the manufacturers product.

Also the question of when these TOS come into effect needs to be clarified in terms of fan creations created prior to the new TOS.

  5. I think all of those are good questions. I wondered the same thing, MM, as it does sound like you HAVE to upload your video. I expect that's not the intention. I expect Greg would be happy to provide clarification on some of these issues.

I think it's important to note that this is not the only way they plan on addressing UGC. I think this is a good conversation we can all have going forward.

  6. You are NOT allowed to discuss LG related things on here as long as you do not post the same thread into the forum!
    Just kidding :o)
But i think id would be a good idea to discuss this in the forum - hopefully it will gonna be a BIG discussion - which doesnt fit in this little popup thingy anyway.

  7. We invoke the fair use doctrine:)

..and there is a "permanent" link to the LG15 discussion thread on the top right of the menu (and its also linked on the "Creators statement" which is linked within this article).

The goal here is to draw attention to the fact that there is a new TOS and to get people involved so that they can provide their input.
