Welcome to Youtube and the world of Collabs

So today I was visiting my subscription center on youtube, and I had a few videos to catch up on. I decided to go straight to the ones from TheHill88 and TheWineKone, some of my favorite youtubers. I immediately noticed they had both done what is called a "collab", which is, for the non-youtube people out there, a video that combines clips of other youtubers to create a new video. The idea is that the whole new video will be better than the sum of the parts it's made of, which is a concept that Nalts talks about in his great ebook that can be found here: http://willvideoforfood.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/popular-on-youtube-without-talent_v15.pdf

Anyways, what amazes me is the talent of the youtubers these days. Since the beginning of youtube, the quality of videos, in my opinion has gone up. The creativity has gone up as well, as can be seen with TheHill88's video her:

(NOTE: WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO FIRST THEN CLICK MORE INFORMATION TO UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT)

As you can see from the videos, they are very creative. I'm also fairly certain this is a new concept, and not many people have worked on this before.

Next up is TheWineKone video, that parodies popular Youtube videos to create a truly hilarious effect!

  1. Showing two sides of a telephone conversation in two different videos is a good gimmick. Some 60's TV shows (Laugh In?) often used a split screen to show both sides of a telephone conversation.

This would be a good way for LG15 to show interaction between Los Angeles and London... it could be fun to see the contrast between what is said, and the expressions on the characters faces (eye-rolls, etc.)

It might also work for TheCoalition, to allow people from different states to have their characters interact via telephone.

I could also see someone doing a conference call with three or more videos.
