What happened in the chat? Skylar Edit.

So most of you are probably wondering what this buzz is about something that happened in a chat room. Who cares right? Well if you like drama, you'll love this. Take some time to read it and fully unstand what's happened and how this all started. Understand why I, personally am not ready to fogive him yet.

Read the full article here: http://abandonskies23.blogspot.com/

We supported his show fully, for most of us this was definitely a pilot to be considered, but as fate would have it, the thousand year old trait-positive male from LG15: Origins turned out to be anything but nice.

  1. That helped a lot in terms of understanding what happened and why it happened. Collaboration is a difficult thing and when people are passionate about what they do then they will have strong opinions. That said, I hope we all can work together to get through this.

This community is very real and some very real and lasting friendships have been formed. There has been love, romance and even marriage......and oooooohhhh so much more.

When you work with any volunteer production you quickly learn that there needs to be a certain amount of give and take. I know that ultimately you guys are gonna come up with something great so just keep your eye on the ball.

  2. 1. I love how she calls Alex's apology "all an act", when snl's publicity stunt from yesterday was nothing else.
If anything, both sides majorly fucked up here, and no side can claim the moral high ground.
    2. I happen to be part of this community, and, frankly, I don't get why this is a community issue. From all accounts (and shown quite well by who was talking in chat) this is an issue between Bex and Alex, with snl, Skylar and a few others as supporters.
Why the hell is the rest of us subject to this? She fucking said they have their own room, there exists IRC PM, YouTube PM, e-mail....there is no reason to do this in public, or to turn this into a community issue.
I like Bex, I don't like to see her insulted, but frankly, this is not news. Plain and simple. It's a personal matter between them and Alex.
2.5. It's also interesting that the one being painted as the main "victim" of Alex, Bex, is the only one not turning this into a giant issue.
    3. So Alex is an arrogant asshole and feels a tad entitled. Assholes are front page news now?
    4. And seriously - the big resolution to this, the fact that he questions the validity of our friendships inside the community - what the fuck do we care? All that means is that he obviously doesn't have friends in the community, and doesn't quite "get it" in the first place.
That's a reason for a multimedial community war?
"OMG!! He called us 'just online people'!!! KILL HIM!!!!!!!!!!"
Seriously people. You couldn't come up with something better than that?
    5. And ultimately, even though it should be obvious by now how massively out of proportion this is, let's get some perspective:
In the past year, we had one fake person die, one real person fake his death, a drive to get that person community-banned, and what came of all of it? Nothing. Nothing happened, everybody forgot, nothing changed. "Scarlette"'s inventors are still roaming around freely, with no branding or warning or even a list of their names, and TJMarsh is still happily hanging out at Stickam/NowLive events, and only a handful of people even recognize who he is.
People like that get away with shit in this community, and you honestly think complaining about Alex calling our friendships invalid is gonna do anything?

This it not news. This is not community relevant. This one dude being an asshole, those directly involved lacking the character strength to just give him the finger and putting him on ignore, and a few pathetic trolls using this incident as an excuse to prey on a new victim.

Our community is in pieces. There hasn't been a series unifying us all as viewers in years, we have no central major site we all frequent (since the official one sucks monkey balls), and with no word on The Last, and no funding for The Resistance, it is very questionable we ever will have a common denominator again.
And instead of clinging to the last bit of unity we have, you tear us more apart by turning a remark so ridiculous and silly that it's not even worth logging into a giant community-wide scandal.

As Joe put it so aptly under the other post: Nothing happened today.
    Ignore the assholes, go home.

And when you're there, ponder this: Had you just answered "clearly, you don't have friends" and ignored him, Alex would have had no effect at all.
This way, you have given him the power to drive a wedge into the community, and to ruin chat climate.
The suggestion "do not feed the trolls" exists for a reason. Take it into account next time.

  3. How dare you call what I did a "publicity stunt"! Tiffers and I had had it with him, and we let our anger get the best of us. I know you want to reply to this, proving me wrong about how we should have handled our anger, but please don't.

At the time Skylar posted this, Alex was planning to tell the whole community and Amanda his side of everything. We wanted to make sure our side was heard.

And for the record, how can you say this is our fault? Alex told Bex to shut the f*ck up and get a life. We never said anything like that. Maybe research a little bit before you post a comment like that.

And for the record, Gade, I am 100% willing to forgive Alex now. I deleted my blog post about him. I am trying to forgive and forget.

I really don't appreciate all of this going on. So, right now, I'm leaving this. This whole drama situation now has nothing to do with me. I'm moving on from it, I will no longer discuss it, take sides, or take part in it. I'm kind of just done.

    ReplyDelete
  4. First of gade, SNL was NOT the only one to do this "publicity stunt". We had gotten fed up with Alex in the chat and asked him to leave, but he wouldn't, so we had chanted for him to leave.

I don't see why you should care anymore about this community when we have a problem with a person, you just decide to blame it on the wrong party. We've posted this on LG15today because this has dragged into the community outside of IRC. Now granted it's not as popular as the series itself, but there are a few people that are still following this. Even if just one or two people care about an issue, then I think it is something important to post on LG15today.

And here is a revelation... if you don't care about a topic, DON'T READ AND COMMENT. Maybe if you really understood the whole situation, you'd be just as mad as bex, skylar, snl, I are. Granted I came into this towards the end, but these are truly my friends, and I will support them as long as they are in the right.

  5. This does not belong in public. I'm with Renegade in that regard. No one is behaving maturely at all by airing this out publicly.

Please stop airing your INTERPERSONAL problems in a way that is meant to divide the community rather than unite. If this isn't going to help anyone aside from making yourself feel vindicated then just keep it private.

I've lost a lot of respect for the parties involved.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Not to mention he dissed the Final Request team and Maddy along with some other breefm chatters. This concerns the majority of people who interact with each other through communication services like chat. It wasn't just an argument between two people he took it beyond that and started calling out others.

    ReplyDelete
  7. At this point, I don't care about respect... I am only supporting my friends... the community has been holding on by a thread for a long time now, so I have stopped caring about that... The only thing I care about is supporting what friends I have left here...

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree, Tiffers, a lot of people have disappeared and when someone steps out of the "circle" we all attack them. The post wasn't meant to offend anyone and I wasn't trying to be the enemy here. I just wanted to let people know what happened because a lot of people we asking. If any of you want to join the chat we're on several different servers including #lg15chat, ##lg15origins, and #breefm

  9. @snl:
And for the record, how can you say this is our fault? Alex told Bex to shut the f*ck up and get a life. We never said anything like that. Maybe research a little bit before you post a comment like that.
What does that have to do with "research"? You are summing up the problem right there:
    - Alex told Bex to stfu.
    - You started a cross-channel manhunt and exposed his assholeness in two long-ass posts on the front page of lg15today.

Does the word "proportion" mean anything to you?
Had you just said "stfu yourself and leave bex alone", you would have shown enough support, and enough would have been said.
It was your choice to start trolling him in chat.
It was your choice to write a blog post about it.
It was your choice to claim to be speaking for all of us.

It was your choice to respond to a minuscule comment with a giant, coordinated attack. You may not have started this - but it is very well your fault that this turned from an insignificant little fight into a giant issue both in chat and on the blog.

Which is also why trying to leave now and pretending you have nothing to do with this is just a little bit ridiculous.
I have logs of you having that long-ass one-on-one fight with Alex in chat last night, drowning out all other conversation - this has everything to do with you.

    @tiff:
First of all, if you want to address something I said and try to invalidate it, make sure that is actually possible.
I was talking about his oh-so-dramatic blog post from yesterday, and unless you are secretly a split personally of snl, I'm pretty sure that, yes, he was the only one to do that publicity stunt.

I like your attempt to make it sound like you were just trying to make him leave, and I'm sure had I not replied, it would look pretty good to the lurkers. Unfortunately for you, I have the logs.

Feb 25 00:39:25 <tiffers> ok, this is my mini rant...
Feb 25 00:39:31 <tiffers> WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU GET IT
Feb 25 00:39:39 <tiffers> NO ONE LIKES YOU ANYMORE
    Feb 25 00:39:42 <tiffers> WE NEVER DID
    Feb 25 00:39:47 <AlexIsAncient> LOl
    Feb 25 00:39:48 <AlexIsAncient> OKAY
Feb 25 00:39:49 <tiffers> GO DRINK SOME CYANIDE AND DI
    Feb 25 00:39:50 <snl06> THANK YOU
    Feb 25 00:39:51 <tiffers> *DIE
Feb 25 00:39:53 <snl06> TIFFERS FINALLY SAID IT
    Feb 25 00:39:55 <AlexIsAncient> Lol
    Feb 25 00:39:55 <snl06> GEEZ
    Feb 25 00:39:57 <snl06> JUST LEAVE
Feb 25 00:40:01 <AlexIsAncient> thats gonna come back and bite you for saying that
Feb 25 00:40:08 <snl06> DO YOU NOT GET THAT NOBODY LIKES YOU, ALEX

Now, I admit I do not live in the states, but over here, "go drink cyanide and die" is quit a bit different than "go away".

You claim to have posted this on lg15today because it "has dragged into the community outside of IRC" - newsflash: It was you guys who dragged it out of the secret lg15 origins irc channel in the first place.
Had you not attacked Alex in other channels, we others wouldn't even have noticed there was trouble.
Had you not posted it on the blog, it would never have gotten wide exposure.
The reason this is a large issue is not because Alex is a pest to the community at large and annoying everyone everywhere - the reason this is a large issue is because you are making it one.
And quite frankly, it's your own fault I'm sitting here and posting. Had you solved this in quiet in a random side channel no one knew about, I couldn't care less. You chose to impose it on me on IRC, you chose to impose it on me on the blog (twice), so I'll very well go with the flow and comment on what has been decided to be today's topic.

If you don't want everyone to comment, don't force everyone to take part.

You can try to rant about me not getting the whole picture all you want, but as far as I can see, I have the same information as the rest of the general public - so if the two posts yesterday were not enough to make everyone understand everything - what was their point?
If we the rest do not have enough information to comment and judge, why post it out in the open and try to make us judge?
You said, directly, that I was putting blame on the wrong party. Even if that was true - isn't it your own fault, for forcing this topic upon me all over the place, without giving me enough information to make an informed judgement?

You are the ones who made this public. You are the ones who craved publicity.
Don't complain now that you don't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I will admit, I was a bit out of line with the cyanide line.... and for that I will apologize, and I have already apologized to aja for flooding the channel, along with snl. However, I had suggested to SNL first to start chanting Leave in chat. Part of it was a joke, part of it was "ok, let's do this". And I will agree with you that maybe we did drag it out of the origin's chatroom, but again, you do not understand the full context of it all. As you can see, LG15chat has died... maybe that is a clue... (and while you might call this backtracking) the whole point of the (as you call it) "publicity stunt" was to drive him out of the chat room. Maybe if you actually talk to skylar and bex and even maddy (because she has been targeted) you can understand why most of us chatters are upset... And you claim that this is driving a wedge between the community... HELLO? The community is all but dead... just a few people that are still hanging on hoping for something to happen (and no that was not stab at ANYONE, merely what I've seen). One last point:

"without giving me enough information to make an informed judgement?"

Have you even read skylar's whole post? The entire post is full of information... yes, they are all quotes, but how can you just turn a blind eye to someone who is being attacked... even someone who you claim to be a friend of... yes she could have ignored it, but one can only ignore so much.

But I also see that you will have your opinions, and I will have mine... Oh, and no one was FORCING this topic on you... that's the great thing about the internet... MM can post things from the internet on here, but the even greater thing is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ.

    Good afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So, uh...so how about that Daniel Beast, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh, sorry westside...forgot you on the list of real pests still haunting the community. My apologies.

    @tiff:
And yet, you wouldn't have posted it if you didn't want people to read.
Let's be honest here - your stance is "if you're on our side, tell Alex to fuck off, if not, don't get involved". It just doesn't work that way. I have read what there was to read, and as long as this topic is being discussed in public, I will take part in the discussion.

If you don't want the public in a discussion, don't start a public discussion.

As for the whole "Have you even read skylar's whole post?" angle...yes, yes I have. You know what I saw? One arrogant guy whose most offensive (but admittedly creative) comment must've been
    (AlexIsAncient) your maturity levels
(AlexIsAncient) are that of a dog
(AlexIsAncient) and not even a smart dog

...seriously. There's not a single four letter word or any other kind of insult in there. Nothing. The entire thing that is pissing you off to that degree, if one can believe the information you have given the public, is that a random dude on the internet questioned the validity of your friendships.

He is arrogant, okay. Granted, I can see that. But that's no justification to start a witch hunt to drive him out of the community.
(I won't get into the fact that randomly claiming to speak for all of chat and/or the community when calling him out is also pretty arrogant.)

A simple "fuck you, Alex" paired with the ignore button would have solved this. It was you guys who turned this into a community issue. Not Alex, not the rest of us.

You may think you're right. You may think I'm "supporting the wrong side". But you know what the fun thing about having an independent mind is? Your view is not as limited as yours seems to be.
I am not "supporting" him or his actions. I don't know him, from all I have seen, he's an asshole. He's usually not talking anywhere where can see anyway. I don't care if he's in chat. But the fact that he's an asshole and insulted friends does not mean I have to turn a blind eye to the fact that you're being drama-trolls all over the place and are blowing this way out of proportion.

    He's a limited scope asshole.
    You're global scope trolls.

He was silent in #lg15chat, and his "case" didn't even appear on the blog. It was you guys who changed that.

You are the ones hunting him.
You are the ones invoking the community.
You are the ones turning this into an issue.

So stop pretending none of this originates from you.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's funny that snl is caught up in this, there was a time where snl was trolled by a lot of people. As was Mitch. And poknish. And many, many others.

Alex is a newer person to the community trying to make something and is not very adept at it yet. That combination has been an easy target of trolls since the early days of this community. Not saying that's makes it okay and quite frankly, "hazing" is pretty much a disgusting and immature convention, but it is pretty much what is happening here.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Renegade speaks very well.

And telling someone to die is never appropriate, especially when you don't really know that persons state of mind. It's wrong, hands down.

I would ban you for that if I were in charge of chat.

If you thought Alex was wrong, you would have been better off to take the high road and just ignore him, leave the project and start your own project. There is never a reason to try to drive someone away from the community.

  15. I'm just going to leave this topic with this:

Reading this article, the only thing that bugged me the most was him saying "I'm the director and I'm doing you a favor".

Okay, as a film student this comment made me head-desk so hard I'm pretty sure I left a dent. Dude? You're not doing your actors a favor. They're not supposed to be doing you a favor, either. You're supposed to be working together. That's the number one rule, dude.

That's all I had to say. Walkin' away now.

  17. I said I'd leave this, but I've been reading and I honestly cannot believe you people.

Yes, we handled it wrong. OK? We've moved on, but it is NOT your position, Gade, Veela, to tell us how to act. Not at all.

Also, I deleted the stupid post! It was a wrong post to make, I realize what I did wrong, Alex does too, we are now at peace. Honestly, Skylar just wanted to show you guys what happened.

Gade, Veela, if Skylar wants to, she has every right to. It's called a community blog, and it's run by modelmotion, who seems to think it's okay being up here.

Again, we know what we did wrong, and so does Alex. It is not your position to tell us what to do.

I think we should just be left alone, we've all gone through enough.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And Alex and I (Yes, and Skylar too) have all made peace. It's resolved now. I think it may be time to delete this post.

And some of you weren't even there, so I don't know how you're in a position to judge. But whatever...

It's over now. Move on with your lives.

  19. Ren it was posted on :

    http://kidswatchlg15too.blogspot.com/.

It was linked from LG15 Today along with a couple of quotes to give the flavor of the story as we normally do for linked stories from other blogs. As you point out it had become the major conversation of the day and stretched across multiple IRC channels. We just cover what is going on in the community and that is what was going on.

Skylar followed with a post on her own blog explaining what happened in detail. She then linked that article on LG15 Today.

All of this arises from an attempt to create a pilot for TSIY-2 and one of my concerns on a related post the same day was that the actual designs of the contest tends to lead to division.

Final Request and Origins were a chance for the two groups to work together but things just blew up. Again that makes it relevant to what we talk about and discuss here.

Granted there will always be problems when humans try to work together but hopefully this like many other difficulties will eventually be worked out thru constructive communication and sometimes that entails expanding a discussion to a wider audience.

"Yes, we handled it wrong. OK? We've moved on, but it is NOT your position, Gade, Veela, to tell us how to act. Not at all."
"Again, we know what we did wrong, and so does Alex. It is not your position to tell us what to do."

Why are you in a position to tell Alex how to act?

You can't claim for yourself what you deny us.

As for the lame attempt to tell others they can't judge...you just wrote two blogs to explain to the public what happened - either you were truthful, then they are in a position to judge, or you lied, then this is even worse than it already is.
    Which one is it?

I can only repeat what I said before - you are the ones who turned this into a public issue, by dragging it out into #lg15chat and onto the community blog twice.
If you don't want the public weighting in on something, don't make shit public.

And, specifically to your address: If you don't want the chat community to voice its opinion, don't go out and claim you speak for it.
(And before you try a weak attempt to claim you didn't, your exact words were "Please know that we are fed up with Alex's actions and we would like to show you all the things he has caused. This is not just I speaking, but the entire LG15 chat community." - yes, you did. [And, as usual, I do have the logs, so denying it won't help you anything.])

@model: Nice argumentation, but the flaw lies in the start - it had not become "the major conversation of the day": it became the major conversation of the day because it was on lg15 today's front page twice.
Had this blog not referenced it, it would have been confined to an hour of ugly trolling in #lg15chat.

  24. How about we leave this all alone now?

    ReplyDelete
  25. For someone who wasn't involved, why the hell are you typing novels about it Renegade?

You sit there and complain about the drama, but then you type tomes to incite more.

Get over yourself, you're no better than any of them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I know what will make this better... lets continue to beat a dead horse...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am "not involved" now?
I assume I only dreamed chat being flooded with this crap then, or that snl claimed to speak in my name just as much as everyone else's? I assume only I dreamed that snl wrote "I am writing this, [...] to show [...] the whole community, why we acted in such a way". I assume I only dreamed Skylar said "I want everyone to know the whole truth, not just an exaggeration of it".
(Hint in case you're on the slow side: Both "the whole community" as well as "everyone" includes me.) I assume I only dreamed Skylar followed up with explicitly inviting both positive and negative feedback.

I have been involved in this against my will. Had they just solved their petty little arguments in their side room, this entire discussion wouldn't exist. But they couldn't do that. They were too trollish, too narrow-minded, too drama-craving to settle their private stuff in private.

    They chose to involve everyone.
    Everyone includes me.
If you don't like my presence, complain to them, not to me.

Then again...it's not like you really care, is it? You're doing exactly what you're accusing me of - complaining about the drama, and then inciting more of it. The true question here is: What kind of troll are you?

Are you a "professional" troll? Absolutely uninvolved, just trying to keep the discussion going?

Or are you a sockpuppet? One of those losing the support they thought they had safe, trying to fake more support by posting anonymously?

Or are you just the usual gutless anonymous coward? Some supporter with a name I'd recognize, not willing to openly enter the discussion? A pathetic worm who doesn't have the balls or character strength to own up to what s/he said?
