LG15: Outbreak on LG15.com

  1. Dark Blue...with teal-ish? In total contrast to black? With no visible connection to the header at all?

Zombie/grunge style in the header and trailers, and hacker/techno style in the body?

Congratulations, EQAL-designers. You have successfully become even worse.

  2. ...and 'gades right out of the gate with EQAL bashing! WHOOOOOO! Things are returning to normal, round these parts.

  3. One thing that is not clear is why the promo video was posted on the "Show" page. In the TINAG tradition one might expect the show page to be considered "in game" and the main LG15.com "out of game" making the home page the better choice for promo videos etc etc etc.

It might have been nicer to "start the show" with an actual "in game" post. And yes, anon, I do realize that LG15 does not strictly go by ARG rules/TINAG, so this is just one opinion.

So, does this now make Miles canon?

  4. Oh... I guess the "T" is umbrella's designation for an oog trailer. Still, with the home page for oog it would make for a more authentic experience to treat the show page as "in game".

  5. I for one am excited about the show. I have no doubt Danni is a wonderful actress full of charisma who will pull off an exciting performance and entertain the masses.

    Come on people get happy!

  6. Hmm, Anonymous was quicker than I expected. Must've been waiting for me. ;)

Obvious question: Do you disagree? Do you honestly consider that a good, exciting, high-quality, professional design, worthy of a "social entertainment company dedicated to redefining the way we interact with content and with each other"? [EQAL: About Us]

    ReplyDelete
  7. i dont get it. you people bitched like none other when The Last didn't get a site...now there's one for outbreak and you all are still not happy?

    ReplyDelete
  8. My comments were more about the in game/ out of game experience and not about the site itself.

Eqal has treated other shows this way so clearly they have their own interpretation of how TINAG should be used. In this case however they do have the home page which could have been used for oog content leaving the show page for a pure in game experience.

  9. The Last had a site, then it got killed, and wasn't returned even though The Last was the most recent series and nominally still running.
That's an entirely different thing than complaining about the lack of quality on a newly created site.

Which, btw, we did with The Last's site as well - broken header links, mis-cropped header images, half-assed colorscheme, obviously broken site parts...I'd tell you to go look it up, but given that they wiped out the entire Resistance/Last period from the server, you could only wade through LG15 Today's archives.

    Oh wait.

It's not just the last year, is it?

    What, you didn't look yet?

While we're all nice and distracted, looking at the shiny new site, EQAL quietly, covertly annihilated the entire history of the lg15 community.

Don't believe me? Go ahead. Try it out.

Try to access the original comment boards.
Try to access the original forums.

All. Gone. Everything we ever did on the site up until last September is gone.
    All meeps - gone.
    All first posts - gone.
All memories of faces and conversations from the past - gone.
    All plot discussions - gone.
    All puzzle threads - gone.

    So now I need something.
    I need the cowardly anonymoose.
I need the crying bitches who come out whenever I question the Cs' decisions.
I need the apologists, the Creator-disciples, the ever-faithful commenters who attack me and chastise me whenever I dare question their gods' decisions:

    Justify this.

Come out and tell me how this is understandable and right.
Come out and tell me how it is better this way.
Come out and tell me how it's perfectly reasonable that, on a day where the new site launches and years of history are wiped out, the Cs still can't be bothered to even give us a tweet, let alone a post about it.

Come out and explain to everyone again how I am wrong when I say the Cs don't give a shit about this community.

Come out and explain to everyone again how quietly kneeling before their feet and accepting and supporting everything they do is really the best way to go and any and all opposition is unnecessary drama generated for ulterior motives.

On principle, I would hope that this kind of shit finally opens your eyes, makes you find your spine and stand up and fight against this kind of treatment.
...but I have a sneaking suspicion the regular whining anonymous is a resistance-era community member, who couldn't care less for the history of us who were here for the golden days.

Congratulations, community. You resisted the resistance. You bitched at those who bitched. Instead of supporting fellow community members trying to fight for the franchise that brought us together, trying to protect what we had, trying to keep the little bit that was left alive, you whined about the drama, questioned their intentions, and cried to leave the Creators alone.

    The result?

Your entire history was quietly wiped out behind your back.

You successfully enabled them to care even less than before. Way to go. I hope that tiny bit of drama-free time was worth it!

In theory, I could tell you to stand up. To riot. To make noise. To flood them with communication until they pull out the backups, lie together some bullshit technical explanation ("it was a JavaScript glitch in the flux capacitor of the server BIOS!") and say it was all an accident, not to worry, they love us, and Outbreak will be really exciting and they can't wait for it to happen.

    But who am I kidding?

You had the chance. You had the chance to keep them honest and acknowledge the needs of this community a dozen times over, and every single time you chose to aid and abet their utter disregard and disrespect of this community.

You allowed them to do this. Don't pretend we didn't warn you about them.

  10. Question for the IT people creating the new outbreak page: Will there be an RSS feed created for this page? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  11. hey i think the new outbreak site looks pretty awesome.

    hot girl is HOT.

and i, frankly, am EXTREMELY disappointed that people use it as an opportunity to complain, like its a rote response to anything the creators do.

couldn't you wait at least one week to commence the bashing?

  12. nobody owes you anything. move on.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey, anon, what a clever addition to the conversation. I could tell that was really thought out. Well done.

Anyway, I found that if you reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, past the javascript glitch bypassing the server BIOS altogether, you'll get this http://lonelygirl15.org/forum/index.php?sid=a9234e1e982e89364a0cc9d719ce39ec

  14. mass suicide. please. altDelete-you can do the countdown.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks, everyone. I thought we were going to have to wait until January 11th for the crying, moaning, and arguing to start. It's like Christmas came early!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I personally think the sites look great. I do wish they were able to update the site without destroying all the old posts and stuff though. I'd like to think that there'll be an archive of the old sites added but I know its a stretch.

The old forums should have stayed up, even if they were locked again just for history's sake.

    ReplyDelete
  17. How dare the owner's of a website make changes to their site! I am outraged, outraged I say! See all those exclamation points?

Change is bad and should be avoided.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @CAD: While I admit I didn't know they had that URL, you are, indeed, correct - that is a glitch. Look at the URL pure lonelygirl15.org redirects to: http://www.lg15.com/lonelygirl15/?p=696 - that's the URL layout for the previous site engine.

.org doesn't work because the oh-so-benevolent Cs wanted to keep the forums alive, .org still works because, as usual, EQAL fucked up on a technical matter, and only added the new URL rewrites for .com, not for .org.

It's certainly nice it's still accessible, but given that that's only the case because they screwed up, who knows when they'll "fix" their rewrite patterns, and that way of access is gone, too?

I said...I admit I didn't know about the .org domain, but that the forums are still accessible through that is a bug on their end, not intent. And it doesn't bring back all video comments of the past three years.

The question now, of course, is if people see this as a wakeup call, and insist it stays accessible, or quietly discard this as "unnecessary drama", ignore the fact that all comments have quietly been removed either way, and give the Cs the necessary safety net to fix their rewrite rules and wipe out the forums completely.

@Math: People like you are exactly the problem. Putting the quiet removal of the entire history of the community on the same level as simple "changes to their site", as if wiping out everything we ever did on the site is the same as changing red links to blue, is exactly the kind of attitude that allows them to behave that way.

And you can point at the .org link all you want - if they actually cared, it would still work on .com. If they actually cared, they would've double-checked whether the old site still works. If they actually cared, they would've posted about it.
If they actually cared, the comment boards would still be there.

But they don't have to care.
    Thanks to people like you.

People who try their hardest to make it seem like any kind of desire the community has is completely unreasonable and we should just submit to the Cs' will and swallow whatever they give us.

People like you are directly responsible for the deterioration of this franchise and this community.

Just because you don't give a shit what happens to everything we ever posted on that site doesn't mean we're all apathetic and submissive.

For me, personally, "they fucked up and so half of it is accidentally still accessible" is not good enough.
Especially not since they told us the site (as a whole) would be preserved.

But hey...how dare I demand them to do exactly what they told us they'd do, right?

How dare I actually care for what happens to tens of thousands of messages which form the history of this community?

How dare I question the fact that they haven't even as much as tweeted about this?

    Your apathy makes me sick.
Just because you don't give a shit what happens to this community doesn't mean we all have to be that way.

    ReplyDelete
  19. You are absolutely right 'gade, the loss of the comments on 2 year old videos ranks up there with the destruction of the library at Alexandria. How could I have been so blind.

    ReplyDelete
  20. pssst...Renegade....If you're so tired of everything the C's do...if you now hate the series and the franchise so much...why don't you just leave? :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Anon: I have addressed this issue before - you don't get to decide how I feel about the series. :)

@Math: You could not have demonstrated how little you care for this community any better.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Gade, for the record, Math is a regular contributor to the COMMUNITY blog. He shares vast knowledge and his personal relationships with creators of other series to enrich the COMMUNITY as a whole, so I am not sure what community you say that he's demonstrated so little care for. Just because someone has an opposing viewpoint doesn't mean they don't care. I go back to the point I made in the other comment thread - has anyone gone back and read over those posts lately at all or ever? If someone cared so much about the community and took into consideration Eqal's track record for closing/deleting forums and sites shouldn't someone have worked out a backup solution?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Anon, I can assure you that is not a true statement, no one wants that. If that's the kind of thing you wish on people then you need to get the hell out of here. At the very least Gade has never been afraid to state his opinions and ideas, whether popular or not in his own name instead of hiding like a coward.

    ReplyDelete
  24. no its true. I sitting here with 6 of my friends and we all agree. And of course we dont mean in real life, just online, please.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What exactly is online suicide? We've had them before and they've done nothing but hurt the community further as well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. online suicide=go away forever. how much more clear can it be?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't like the colors...waaaah. boo hoo hoo.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Who is renegade to say anything about anyone in this 'community'? He is easily the most divisive hateful person around.

    ReplyDelete
  29. does anyone else realize that there is only two anonymouseses and im one of them?

    ReplyDelete
  30. So wait...Anonymous suggests suicide because I have on opinion on the color scheme of a website...but I'm the hateful one?

    Gotta love your logic.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Renegade, i do not agree with you.
    And im not an anonymous.

I think anon was completely out of line with their comment about online sucide, But renegade.. you have been a thorn in everyones side since 2006.. Always complaining, Never happy.. First chance you get you complain about everything to do with EQAL and the creators..

So i ask you this: Why are you still in this community?

    ReplyDelete
  32. For a variety of reasons - including, but not limited to, friends in the community, TSIY, and the irrational hope the Cs might get their act together, actually talk to us, kick their tech staff's asses and maybe even produce something.

You see, the thing here is, for all I can tell, your contact with me so far has been limited to little more than the occasional mud slinging on here.

That's not all I do in this community. In fact, it's more the exception than the rule.

Do not mistake a handful of anonymous trolls on an independent blog for the entirety of the lg15 community.

The allegations that I'm "a thorn in everyone's side" and "always complaining, never happy" are simply blatantly false.

You could figure that out by reading every post I ever made on here in its entirety and then talking to all remaining community members as well as a bunch of ex-members, but I do think the easiest way would be to expand your horizon and join chat regularly for a while.

In fact, with Outbreak just having started, it's a good time to be there - just yesterday there was a lot of activity and sleuthing going on.

It's your decision, really. But if you think you can judge me, just because you saw me complain on a limited sub-set of topics on a fraction of the posts of this blog...well, you're wrong. Plain and simple. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Chat is really fun actually.
