Farewell To A General Hospital Legend...

Last week we all shed a tear when Edward Quartermaine gave up the anecdote to save little Emma, at last truly seeing the kind heart he tried so hard to hide for many, many years.

Jane Elliott narrated the end montage, honoring the man who gave us years of dedication, talent and fun as the Patriarch of arguably the most beloved and dysfunctional daytime families- The Quartermaine's.

Like most of you when word came down of his passing this morning I cried a little bit knowing we’d never see him grace our screens again.  When I think about General Hospital I immediately picture John Ingle as Eddie Q, standing in the middle of the Q’s living room arguing with Ned, Monica, Tracy, Alan, Luke or  completely livid when Jason & "that hoodlum" (aka) Sonny would show up during one crisis or another.  Lila  always had her own special way reigning him in as the voice of reason to his gruff, uncompromising ways- especially when trying to pull the wool over someone’s eyes in a borderline shady ELQ deal!

Whether he was trying to get Michael back into the fold, siding with Skye or Emily, offering a million dollar bribe to keep Maya and Ethan married, or doling out a threat of some kind to gain the upper hand, he brought dimension to the Patriarch.  He allowed you to see that while he talked a big game, ultimately his bark was bigger than his bite and in reality, when it came to choices between family and business, he always chose what was right for the Q's!  He was just a big teddy bear with a heart of gold.

John Ingle was a kind soul and amazing talent we were lucky enough to see every day in our own living rooms.  Through the years he touched our hearts and captivated our souls with his light.  Though that light has gone on to bigger and better things, he will forever be loved, missed and never forgotten.  All of us on RHeart send our love and condolences to his family, friends, GH cast and crew, colleagues and fans.

We love you John!  Thanks for the memories!
