Lowlifes: The Hand of God at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco: Lowlifes Concluding Episode 10 of 10

I woke early with butterflies in my stomach. Today was going to be full of revelations.
I was going to discover something new about Larry Hayes and I was going to learn something new about myself. I wasn't sure of which I was more scared......

Desperation at Hunters Point: Lowlifes Episode 9 of 10

I told Jennifer Hayes to meet me at Hunters Point.
An unfamiliar place tends to unsettle a person.
If this woman was playing with guns and using me to frame her husband then I wanted to get her out of her comfort zone before I started asking questions.......

Lowlifes: Deception, Passion and Revelation in Union Square: Lowlifes Episode 8 of 10

San Francisco's cable cars run on a continuous wire loop that circles the inner city. The cars grab the cable to go forward and drop it to stop. It's one of the city's big deceptions because to the unwise you'd assume that the cars powered themselves. Untrue. The power comes from a massive engine room at Mason and Washington. The cable cars are impotent............

Searching for Drug Dealer in Lower Nob Hill: Lowllifes Episode 7 of 10

Finding Ludo proved harder than I'd hoped.
Asking junkies for their dealer's name when you aren't a customer tends to win you the runaround.
I knew he had a place in Nob Hill but I didn't know if he was at the top of the hill looking down or in Lower Nob Hill ......

Interview with Chinese Drug Lord in San Quentin Prison: Lowlifes Episode 5 of 10

I headed north out of San Francisco, across the Golden Gate bridge and through the tunnels burrowed through the Marin headlands.

This was my first time visiting San Quentin as a PI..........

Lowlifes Episode 1-4

San Francisco's Tenderloin District : Lowlifes Episode 1 of 10

Lowlifes is a story about Larry Hayes, a San Francisco homicide detective with a drug addiction. His ex-wife has hired a private detective, Lauren Ortega, to dig dirt on him to use as ammunition in a child custody battle.

Murdered Informant in San Francisco. Lowlifes Episode 2 of 10

The day after Jon's murder, it felt like just another day in the Tenderloin. The sun was shining but there was a chill in the air. Sure there's good people and there's bad people but sometimes it's hard to tell them apart.

A Trip to the East Bay: Lowlifes Episode 3 of 10

I left the car in town and took the BART out to see Jennifer Hayes. Gas prices had rocketed and with the freeway traffic likely to be rammed the train seemed like the best option.
The station was dead and it gave me time to gather my thoughts about how I was going to tell the client her star witness was dead.

Take down in San Francisco's China Town: Lowlifes Episode 4 of 10

"Once upon a time in Chinatown"
That's how Jennifer Hayes should have started the story of her husband's drug addiction.
Hayes was working major crimes for SFPD. His mark was a drug dealer called Lee Wang. Hayes had gone undercover to topple the kingpin and spent months worming his way into Wang's organization.
