New from EQAL: Umbrella

This is merely a photography and has no editorial merit whatsoever

Earlier this week, in an interview with the lovely and talented Taryn Southern, Miles Beckett, CEO of EQAL, foreshadowed a planned move by EQAL to create a consumer version of the software it developed to run its various project websites. Today, at Twiistup in Los Angeles, EQAL formalized the announcement with the introduction of Umbrella.

The software includes numerous features such as profiles, blogs, a forum, and video section as-well-as other features familiar to fans of EQAL's various endeavors. The software will compete directly with similar existing systems such as Ning, which is very popular with small community based projects. The software is currently in beta testing and no announcement has been made when the software will officially roll-out or on pricing or service plans.

  1. When one business model fails a VC funded company pretty much has to try a new one. We saw that a lot during the dot com days. Most did not end well, but a few were able to struggle through. Still a side by side comparison between Ning and Eqals software does not bode well unless Eqal can harness the power of the 436.

  2. 436 needs to start using it's powers for good not evil.

  3. Good point, I didn't think of that. Back to being evil.
