Solvitur Ambulando - tuesdayschild65

I'm getting hungry and scared. I keep trying to call Lorne, but his mobile rings once and goes to voicemail. :-/

Please don't give up. There's more than one way to reach the centre of a labyrinth.

  1. Solvitur Ambulando is Latin for "It is solved by walking."

  2. This phrase is attributed to St. Augustine of Hippo.

Here is a similar labyrinth: http://www.westminster-church.org/labyrinth.htm

"During the Middle Ages labyrinths were designed in the floors of many Northern European cathedrals to be used a part of the pilgrimage path to “the new Jerusalem.” The most famous is in Chartres Cathedral, France. The inspiration for using the labyrinth as a walking meditation was introduced in this country by Dr. Lauren Artress, canon at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco when she copied the design of the Chartres 11-circuit labyrinth and introduced it at Grace Cathedral.

  3. One of the images in the video matches the labyrinth shown in this picture of Chartres Cathedral in France: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Labyrinth_at_Chartres_Cathedral.JPG

  4. And some additional information on the Labyrinth of Chartres: http://www.mymaze.de/chartres_technisch_e.htm

I have not identified the man in the painting profile near the end of the video.

  5. Wow, there are pictures of a BUNCH of similar mazes here: (doesn't seem to help with the puzzle, but I thought it was a cool collection)...

  6. One funny thing... the description says "There's more than one way to reach the centre of a labyrinth." ... but there is only one path to the center of the physical labyrinth, it is not a maze, just a twisting single path.

  7. ... there is also mention of "using brute force" (presumably to decode the letter pairs code using fairplay cypher). This could be the meaning of "more than one way" to find the solution.
