It all began when Bree and Daniel went swimming:

...and a New York Times blogger, Virginia Heffernan who reported on cassieiswatching's first video:

"I was tipped off to it in weird ways: Morse-code text messages, Skype
IMs with a mysterious name, and that screwy audio file. The only proof that what the person was saying was true is that he/she/they/it had a photo and the coordinates of the swimming hole, so I believed that there had been some contact with the original creators. But who

Hot Chicks of Occupy Wall Street #OccupyWallStreet
A lot of fantastic media has been created about the "Occupy" movement. I was watching one video in particular and commented to a friend, "Wow, seeing all those super smart hot chicks at the protest makes me want to be there." He replied, "Hmmm... Yeah, let's go with that."
We instantly went to Tumblr and made hotchicksofoccupywallstreet.tumblr.com. Our original ideas were admittedly sophomoric: Pics of hot chicks being all protesty, videos of hot chicks beating drums in slow-mo, etc. But when we arrived at Zuccotti Park in New York City, it evolved into something more.
There was a vibrant energy in the air, a warmth of community and family, and the voices we heard were so hopeful and passionate. Pretty faces were making signs, giving speeches, organizing crowds, handing out food, singing, dancing, debating, hugging and marching.
It made me want to pack my bags and pitch a tent on Wall Street. And it's in the light that we created this video.
And we hope it makes you want to be there too.
EDIT: Apparently a lot of controversy has erupted online from people passionately opining (among many things) that this is sexist, offensive, and dangerously objectifies women. It was not my intent to do that and I think the spirit of the video, and the voices within, are honorable and inspiring.
However, if you disagree with me, I encourage you to use that as an excuse to create constructive discussions about the issues you have. Because, to be honest, any excuse is a good excuse to bring up the topic of women’s rights.

Pete Seeger Joins Occupy Wall Street Late-Night March Down Broadway (10/21/11) #OccupyWallStreet
If 92-year-old folk legend Pete Seeger (seen waving cane at 50-second mark) can walk 36 blocks at midnight with Occupy Wall Street, then so can you.
After a performance at Symphony Space on Broadway and 95th Street in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Pete Seeger joined Occupy Wall Street for a march down to Broadway and 59th Street for an occupation and sing-a-long at Columbus Circle.
This footage was shot shortly after midnight as the protesters neared Columbus Circle.

At the center of the circle, Seeger and Amram were joined by `60s folk singer Arlo Guthrie in a round of "We Shall Overcome," a protest anthem made popular by Seeger.

Squaresville: A Promising Square Pegs for the 2010s?
A generation ago, in the fall of 1982, two misfit teenage girls trying to fit in appeared on American television sets in the critically-acclaimed Square Pegs. Though it lasted only one season, it was a forerunner of classic teen coming of age TV shows and movies of the 1980s, 90s and beyond.
Which brings us to Squaresville, a new webseries now launching from Matt Enlow. It appears to be a promising new entrant to that classic genre.
Check out the trailer:
Based on the trailer, this is the first web series in long while that seems promising and appealing to me. The show stars Mary Kate Wiles and Kylie Sparks as Zelda and Esther, two misfit teenage girls trapped in your typical American suburbia. They seem like the kind of girls I'd liked to have eaten lunch with in high school, hypothetically speaking (my lunch date card was wiiiide open, sad to say.)
In addition to the trailer, one "minisode" called Sassy Girl is also up. The release schedule for future episodes is dependent on the show's current fundraising drive seeking $12,000 to fund 12 episodes.
Certainly that's yet another hassle that teens of the 80s didn't have to deal with.
And by the way, my Square Pegs analogy is not just a tired journalistic hook for this piece. Well, not entirely. Back in 2008, when Square Pegs was released on DVD, a number of "minisodes" were posted on youtube, trying to condense down separate episode storylines into 5-7 minute lengths. That cutting and dicing of the original format didn't really work, which leaves Squaresville wide open to do the webseries format the right way.

@modelmotion @milowent Just fyi: "Could" is inflight gogo language for "count."
http://twitter.com/#!/page88/statuses/126791992238813184
From LGPedia: http://www.lg15.com/lgpedia/index.php?title=Virginia_Heffernan
Virginia Heffernan is a writer at the New York Times who was an early fan of lonelygirl15 and promoted the series through her Screens Blog on nytimes.com. Her July 28th blog on the LG15 saga marked the first mainstream media attention to the project.
Virginia closely monitored the internet sleuthing hunt to determine whether the series was "real" or "fake" which occurred at the original Lonelygirl15.com Phorum and then later at The Children of Anchor Cove forum. Virginia herself appeared to cling to the hope that Bree was real.
On the evening of September 12th, 2006, articles by Ms. Heffernan and Tom Zeller Jr. at the New York Times, and by Richard Rushfield at the Los Angeles Times, broke the story that Jessica Lee Rose was Bree, and the names of the Creators. Grant Steinfeld was the primary source for the NY Times article.
Virginia met Alissa Brooke in real life after inviting her to a symposium on web privacy at NYU, which occured just days after Bree's unmasking.
On Jan. 24th, 2007, Heffernan wrote a review in the New York Times about what lonelygirl15 had become in the months since Bree's discovery. Famous blogger Milowent was quoted offering his approval of Katharine McPhee's recent appearance in the series. Heffernan's take is that the series is "inventive, with highs and lows. On balance, it's entertaining." She also praised McPhee's acting and said that Jess Rose "has become a truly terrific actress."
From LGPedia: http://www.lg15.com/lgpedia/index.php?title=Cassieiswatching#Virginia_Heffernan
A New York Times blogger, Virginia Heffernan, who had been extensively covering the story of lonelygirl15 in the summer of 2006, reported on cassieiswatching's first video before it was released in this entry, describing it as "[a] renegade lonelygirl-spinoff, which has some attenuated ties to the original". When asked about it through e-mail, Ms. Heffernan said:
"I was tipped off to it in weird ways: Morse-code text messages, Skype
IMs with a mysterious name, and that screwy audio file. The only proof that what the person was saying was true is that he/she/they/it had a photo and the coordinates of the swimming hole, so I believed that there had been some contact with the original creators. But who
