There was a fairly lengthy discussion among fans as to whether not Amanda is pregnant.
(Edit : Greg Goodfried was away from the keyboard at the time this question was posed, and it is not uncommon for him to log out of chat without warning. This theory is purely speculation and without proof to support it. -GG)

Then they'd have to credit Cris Crocker, winekone, Lisa Nova, Whatthebuck, DaxFlame and countless others who did it BEFORE the Red Army.
I love the Red Army and what they do, and have joined them on occassion... but to say that the idea is original- to boost your status on YouTube by the constant commenting... HA! You, anonymous, are a moron and a mindless sheep! But then again, posting anonymously, you probably already knew that.
Yes because the timing of adopting this strategy is purely coincidental.

ReplyDelete*puts my head in my hands and sighs* LoL! Perhaps I can clarify this one and we can nip it in the bud.
Earlier, many of us were discussing(in another chat room) who we thought would die and why. Someone mentioned that they thought Lucy would die. I remarked that the only reason Lucy would/should die is if Amanda left the show, or some other life-changing reason- say if she got pregnant. I then followed that sentence with- "This is how rumors start... Amanda is NOT pregnant!!!"
I think someone read that first sentence and took it as face value, and carried it over into the other room.
PROTIP: Read every sentence before you jump to conclusions!
I'm not sure why it is obnoxious to adopt a strategy that appears to have the desired effect, in this case a large number of views for a video on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteOne might take issue with the strategy itself or how it is implemented.
I think it is fine for the Creators to ask fans to support their work and leave comments on their videos. They started something similar many months ago with the "LG15 street team" (or something like that) on the forums, asking fans to use word of mouth and other means in local communities to get the word out.
I think it can be a problem if the quest for views on YouTube messes up the storytelling. I think what people are really reacting to is the sense that these videos brought in the views because of the suggestive titles and thumbnails, rather than much grassroots promotion - but by thanking the fans for supporting the videos, the Creators are encouraging a more positive approach.
