Lonelyjew15 Vid Pulled by YouTube

The most recent LonelyJew15 video “My First Grown-Up Party!” Has been pulled by YouTube with claims that it violated it’s Terms of Use Agreement.

It is a shame that just as the series was gaining popularity, with good views, a high amount of comments, plus with the launch of it’s own website today: http://www.lonelyjew15.com that this video has been taken down.

JenniPowell and the staff of LJ15 work long and hard to entertain the community with a parody series that is well thought out, scripted and edited. Show your support for the LonelyJew15 crew by getting in touch with the folks at YouTube and explaining your dissatisfaction with this video being pulled.

Hello Everyone!

Unfortunately all this happened while I was stuck at work so I haven't had a chance to respond to all of you until now. I am very sad and confused as to how this happened, I am very proud of this series and that video in particular (because I got the wonderful opptunity to work with so many great members of the community on it). I believe it has a right to be enjoyed by whoever would like to see it.

The response I received from YouTube said simply, "After being flagged by members of the YouTube community and reviewed by YouTube staff, the video below has been removed due to its inappropriate nature." I will be following up with them to see if I can get more details and hopefully resolve the issue, even if it means a recutting of the video.

The background music we used was from a royalty free, open use batch of music that Adam and I use for all the LonelyJew videos.

I appreciate all your support in this. I do these videos out of a love of entertaining the community and it hurts me that people would feel that I am being inappropriate but I will happily do whatever it takes to resolve the issue.

If you do choose to contact YouTube, please remember that this could all simply be a misunderstanding.

Thank you!

Very Sincerely,
Jenni

  1. Well, I for one am superpissed at YouTube. This sucks!

  2. Any idea whether there is an actual reason it was removed or is this result of someone attacking the video by clicking on the "report this video" option or ???

  3. My question is along the same lines as qthec.

What is the reason given for removing the video? I would not complain to YouTube unless I had all the facts first so that I could best argue my side.

  4. YouTube supposedly reviews flagged material; but even if the video was flagged, I don't see why they would remove it.

I assume they sent Jenni a YT message explaining. I understand that is their policy.

  5. The ONLY thing I can think of would be the music in the background. Was it copyrighted? Even if it was, usually videos don't get taken down over that, but that could be a possible cause.

I don't know, though; it could be royalty free or public domain music.

Q: they usually check out videos before removing them, even when people "report this video."

  7. So what was the reason? I don't want to argue against them pulling it if there was actually a good reason like using copyrighted material.

  8. when it comes to youtube, the default first answer is they screwed up.

  9. I think it's best to wait to hear from Jenni first over what the reason cited was, and then start lodging complaints.
Apo is correct, YouTube is SUPPOSED to review any and all videos that are mass flagged. But I doubt they review anything that's not from a YouTube partner.
The best thing to do is for Jenni (or anyone with lonelyjew15) to e-mail YouTube, see if there is a reason and if they say anything like "It was flagged by 35+ people" then she should kinly respond that there's nothing wrong with the video and that she is planning on putting the video back up and they can review it.

  11. It sounds like a misunderstanding; I hope it gets worked out, Jenni. You guys worked too hard to have videos taken down for no reason.

  12. The YouTube account for the "LonelyJew15" series is lonelyjewfifteen.

There is also a separate YouTube account called "lonelyjew15" that has a single short video on it called "Jew crying for money" posted 5 months ago, that is clearly hate based and should be removed (the description says "Abusive Jew of dogs is acting out.") In fact, I would encourage those who agree with me to go flag it now as "Hateful or abusive" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlvB3YQAc8o
I wonder if it's possible that somehow was involved in the confusion?

If someone is attacking the fictional LonelyJew15 series, it will likely show up by other videos being flagged for no reason.

  13. I just an email to my contact at YouTube. I have no idea why the video would be pulled. I'll report back if I hear anything.

  14. Youtube is actually known for pulling videos and deleting channels without a clear reason. ;) It's why so many members of youtube left and joined Livevideo.

  15. I never got to see the video yet ='(

    thats unfair !

  16. I promise, you'll all get to see the video. We're just trying to peacefully work things out with YouTube (which I'm sure we'll be able to do) and then the vid will be back up for you all to see! And if not, I promise you'll get to see it one way or another. This video is very special to me, it really is one of my favorites we've done so far!

  17. the hyping this up as a amazing episode makes me sadder haha

  18. Well, it was called "my first grownup party" and I can only imagine what would define a "grownup" party. Was there any illegal drinking or drug use in the video? Lots of cursing?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think I know what happened...

Someone felt it was too historically inaccurate and possibly scandalous for Anne Frank to imply she might have kissed Jerry at such a young age. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I am sure it was the underage drinking. I can't think of anything else that was inappropriate about the video. Youtube doesn't realize you are an actress who is of drinking age. Hopefully, this can get resolved quickly.
