Associated Press Sues Bloggers for Linking Articles

"it appears that the Associated Press is going after bloggers for merely posting a linked headline and a tiny snippet of text from the article."

AP to meet with blogging group to form guidelines

NEW YORK (AP) - The Associated Press, following criticism from bloggers over an AP assertion of copyright, plans to meet this week with a bloggers' group to help form guidelines under which AP news stories could be quoted online.

  1. Oh wait, did I just link to and article that linked to and AP article?

    It's 2008 people!

  2. wow, the A.P. backed down on that one quickly.

now that is the power of the interwebz for you........... in less that 24 hrs they decide to cut a deal with bloggers.

  3. hahahaha

Seriously "omg they are critisising use and linking to our pages we should do something to censor them!"

How is that different from a newspaper in the past takeing quotes and critisising them? Satire has been aroubnd for a good 30-40 years and will continue on.

    Indeed a good example

  4. Like they'd have the time and money to take bloggers to court.
