Rich makes a good point about the difference between "What's Trending" and "Breaking News". From what he said, I assume that he is not saying that they made the mistake deliberately to drive views but rather they were going after breaking news stories to drive views and that led to this incident.
ReplyDeleteWhat is ironic is that CBS has one of the best twitter feeds for breaking news; @BreakingNews and why the person responsible for the tweet did not check there first (or one of the other Breaking news twitter accounts is hard to understand.

The bottom line is that while this did draw national attention to What's Trending, it was costly to her journalistic reputation and that of her company.
Still, as Rich mentions, she is talented and she still has the World Wide Web even if she does not have a CBS News affiliation
