Web Series Today: How to get the most out of Web Series Today #7

We recently added a new block of new "authors" to Web Series Today.

Make sure you follow the directions sent to you very carefully.

A few people seem to have a problem understanding Youtube video embeds. Under a video you will find a "share" button. Click on that.

In the window that appears you will see the word "embed". Click on that and the embed you need will be revealed. The video shown is an old lonelygirl15 video which is in standard definition and hence the size you would want to select to embed on Web Series Today would be 640x480. Today, most people shoot in high definition, in which case you would want to select 640x360. Now copy the embed code and post it into the post you are creating for Web Series Today. Before pasting it, make sure you are in the "HTML" mode, rather than the "Compose" mode in the top left of the post.

The second thing you should pay attention to are tags/labels. The importance of these to how Web Series Today functions has been explained several times. Basically you should always make sure a series has a unique tag/label that matches the name of the show/series.


 Secondly you should select the ONE tag category that best describes the series: "Web news", "Web show" (e.g. comedy skits etc), "Web series" (dramatic narrative) or "Community video" (vlogs, short films etc) (alternative spelling such as #webseries or webseries are NOT used by our category system and will only confuse other authors.  Also the use of # is a Twitter thing, and just causes clutter in the tags/labels)


Finally, if you wish to post more than one video from a single show in one day, try and do it as a single post rather than multiple posts. The reason for this is that the front page holds a fixed number of posts so if you make multiple posts about a series it forces content about other shows off the front page faster. There may be circumstances where you need multiple posts, because of say a live event, so you have to use your discretion. Also, if you are new and posting older videos you might consider posting them one at a time over a few days rather than posting them as a block of say 4. (Posts with more than 4 videos are highly discouraged for technical reasons).
