Pink Slip - Part 4 - The Dance

1 comment:

  1. This is my personal favorite. I loved this shoot. First of all...it was a breeze to write despite writing it in the dark as my house guest slept...with only the light of the computer to guide me...it just flowed...then I loved building this set...and it was the first time I worked with now Art Director - Greg Waigand...we blew up those balloons until 4:00A.M. and had an early call time too. My P.A.s on this shoot were wonderfully caring...massaging my neck and shoulders (not part of the job description...but they volunteered)....I was clueless about what or how we'd build this set...I had rented a hardwood parquet dance floor which was less expensive to rent from Friday through Monday than to just rent for one day on the weekend) but did not know what to do to create the wall now known as the balloon wall....We had hung and gathered the hot pink sheer fabric to look like a drape and put a table filled with glasses...silver and goodies for one wall....and we had blown up some balloons to hang from the ceiling but the ceiling was low and when we rehearsed the tango Joey (Jason Ellefson) kept knocking the balloons down...so as Greg and I sat blowing up those balloons and as Greg put them on a short string...I suddenly said - Greg - what if you used a longer string..floor to ceiling and strung balloons all over it and we did a balloon wall...and he said "Yes"...and then "We could hang a white sheet behind the balloons and back light it" and I said something like "Fantastic...sounds good to me." and so that's what we did until 4:00A.M. So much fun. We also used the Christmas tree previously used in Part 3...which we had decorated with pink and purple ornaments for part 3 and gold and silver ornaments on the other side....all we had to do was turn the tree around put it in the corner and that is what makes the scene between Suzie (Kaitlin Snyder) and Cara (Tiffany Thomas) look so great..of course it didn't hurt to have such beautiful and talented actresses.
